Plattsburg’s Austin Reeves, already having a good game, punctuated his evening with a 22-point outburst in the fourth quarter to lead the Tigers past visiting Orrick 70-63 Tuesday night.
Reeves’ production in the final 8 minutes gave him a game-high 39 points and came after the Bearcats had battled all night to take a 45-44 lead after three periods.
Bearcat Coach Morgan Dickson thought his team played well in the fast-paced game, but just had trouble stopping Reeves.
“We just couldn’t contain an excellent player enough,” Dickson said. “He finished everything, and is by far the best player we’ve faced this year. Our kids played hard. With a few layups or more free throws made, or less offensive rebounds given up, we could’ve been victors.”
Dickson added that facing a larger school such as Plattsburg with their athletes would be good experience heading into the stretch run of the season.
