The Richmond Spartans did not waste a lot of time taking control of their home game Friday night with the visiting Carrollton Trojans. Richmond grabbed a 24-8 lead after 8 minutes and then continued on for a 67-45 MRVC East victory.
Richmond improved to 6-2 in the league and 15-8 overall, while the Trojans dropped to 1-6 in conference play and 9-12 overall.
Kyle Carroll, who ended the night with 17 points, got the Spartan offense going with 7 points in the opening period, while Caleb Benhardt knocked down a pair of 3-pointers on his way to an 11-point effort.
Both Benhardt and Carroll ended the game with three 3-pointers.
Despite a bit of a letdown offensively in the second period, Richmond managed to take a 35-26 lead into the break.
