After a tough game on Wednesday, the Richmond Lady Spartans returned to the court Thursday in an MRVC East game at Lexington. Lady Spartan Coach David Littrell said his team did not have enough left in the tank as they dropped a 61-56 decision.
“I knew going into this game it would be a tough task to maintain the same intensity after playing a tough St. Mary’s squad on Wednesday,” he said. “The difference in this game is all from these girls playing a very physical game the night before. Tonight we got in the right defensive position, but not in the correct stance, which created too many opportunities for them at the free throw line.”
Lexington, now 3-3 in the league and 7-12 overall, made the most of its chances at the line as the Minutewomen converted 17 of 21, while Richmond visited the line just 10 times in the game and made a half-dozen. The Lady Spartans are now 2-3 in conference and 9-11 overall.
