The 2010 Richmond Spartan football team will see some familiar faces on the gridiron this fall. The newly released districts were officially announced this morning by the Missouri State High School Activities Association and have Richmond once again in Class 3 and competing in District 15.
The Spartans will meet former MRVC opponents Odessa and Oak Grove in district play, and will also play Van Horn of Independence. Once again the top two teams in each district advance to Regional play on the road to the Show-Me Bowl.
The Spartans and Odessa both advanced from last year’s district play. The Bulldogs were the district champions after defeating Richmond 9-0.
Richmond will renew its old-time rivalry with Oak Grove. The Panthers suffered through a rare 0-10 season last fall, but have won the last three meetings with the Spartans. Richmond and Oak Grove have not met since the 2007 season.
The Spartans will face the Van Horn Falcons for the first time ever.
