The Richmond Lady Spartans got off to a great start Tuesday in their Hamilton Invitational opening-round game with Trenton.
After battling to a 10-10 draw in the first quarter, Richmond managed just 14 more points over the remaining three periods as the fifth-seeded Lady Spartans lost to the No. 4 seed, Trenton, 44-24.
Richmond Coach David Littrell said his girls played well early as they kept Trenton from getting the ball inside, and then staying with the Lady Bulldogs’ outside shooters. However, the Lady Spartans could not keep up the defensive intensity.
