The Orrick Lady Bearcats rebounded from just their second loss of the season two nights earlier, by dominating Kingsville 65-35 Friday night to take third place at the Wellington-Napoleon Tournament.
Orrick, now 10-2 for the season, shot 43 percent from the field, while the defense came up with 17 steals.
The Lady Bearcats opened with a 19-10 lead after the first 8 minutes and took control of the game with a 26-6 scoring advantage in the second period. Orrick extended its 45-16 halftime cushion by outscoring the Lady Tigers 18-12 in the third quarter.
Amanda Rodenberg connected on 10 of her 15 field goals to score a game-high 20 points for Orrick, and completed the double-double with 14 rebounds – 7 on offense and 7 on defense. Shelby Harth added a dozen points as she connected on 6 of 11 field goal attempts. She also grabbed 6 rebounds.
Megan Swartz added 9 points to the Lady Bearcat attack, followed by Amy Isenhour with 8, Kristee Harris with 7, Miranda Williams with 6, Caitlin Stevinson with 2, and Leslie LaFavor with a free throw. Harris dished out a half-dozen of Orrick’s 31 assists in the game, with Isenhour credited with 5 of them.
Harris and Rodenberg were named to the all-tournament team.
