Lady Dawgs too much for hosts in opener

Frankie Chilcutt had the hot shooting hand on a cold Tuesday night to help lift Hardin-Central to a 63-40 victory over the host Lady Bobcats in the opening round of the 52nd Annual Braymer Invitational.
The third-seeded Lady Bulldogs, now 7-2, advance to the semifinals to meet No. 2 Tina-Avalon Thursday.
Braymer’s Molly Foley provided a bulk of the offense with a game-high 25 points for the Lady Bobcats. She hit for 15 points in the fourth period as Braymer tried to climb out of a 53-19 deficit. Foley also ended the night with five 3-point buckets.
Chilcutt hit 9 of her 13 field goal attempts and 4 of 7 from the line as she paced Hardin-Central with 22 points. She had 13 points in the first half to help the Lady Dawgs jump out to a 35-16 lead at the intermission.
The Lady Bulldogs added some more breathing room in the third period using an 18-3 scoring advantage, with Foley’s 3-point bucket the only points for Braymer.
Chilcutt also grabbed 8 rebounds as Hardin-Central held a 30-18 advantage on the boards, including a 13-4 edge on the offensive end.
Megan Layman added 14 points with 6 assists, 7 steals and a pair of blocked shots.
Allison Oyler added 8 points and 6 steals for Hardin-Central as the Lady Dawgs forced 18 Braymer turnovers. Also scoring for Hardin-Central were Lindsey Arbogast with 8, Angelica Bradley and Hannah Noelker with 4 each and Morgan Griggs with 2.
