Megan Layman continued her hot scoring hand with 24 points, and Frankie Chilcutt recorded a double-double as the Hardin-Central Lady Bulldogs won for the fourth time in five games this season – 73-36 at Northwest of Mendon.
Layman hit 9 of 19 field goals, while Chilcutt scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Hardin-Central. Two other Lady Bulldogs scored in double digits with Allison Oyler and Lindsey Arbogast adding 13 apiece. Hardin-Central shot 42 percent from the field and hit 23 of 33 free throws. The Eagles shot just 28 percent from the field and converted half of their 10 free throws.
Hardin-Central built a 25-4 lead after one quarter and 46-18 at the half before taking a 65-24 cushion into the final 8 minutes.
Layman also sparked the defense with 6 of the Lady Dawgs’ 17 steals, with Chilcutt grabbing 4 more. Also scoring for Hardin-Central were Angelica Bradley with 6, Ashley Ross and Morgan Griggs with 3 each. Arbogast added 5 rebounds to Hardin-Central’s total as the Lady Dawgs held a 29-13 advantage on the boards.
The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Hale Monday.
