The Hardin-Central offense could not get untracked Friday night as the Bulldogs dropped to 0-2 for the season with a 40-20 loss to the visiting Stet Cardinals.
The Dawgs committed 16 turnovers, and could hit just 23 percent from the field for the evening.
The Cardinals held a 27-15 edge after three periods in a low-scoring game, but began finding the range in the final 8 minutes as they outscored Hardin-Central 15-5. Jonathon Oster and Ryan Foster scored 13 points apiece to lead the Cardinal offense, with Derek McGinnis adding 10. Stet also owned the boards with 9 offensive and 18 defensive rebounds. The Bulldogs grabbed 4 rebounds on the offensive end and 9 more on the defensive end.
Mark Carpenter scored 8 points for Hardin-Central. He also had a half-dozen steals, with 3 rebounds. Randy Estenbaum and Jake Harris added 5 points each, with Damon Johnson scoring 2. Johnson also had 4 rebounds and an assist.
Stet held a 13-5 lead after one period and was up 21-12 at the half.
