Megan Layman hit for a game-high 24 points Friday night as Hardin-Central cruised to its second win in as many outings with a 49-24 victory over Stet.
Layman hit her first 8 points in the opening quarter as the Lady Dawgs jumped to a 14-3 lead over the visiting Lady Cardinals. Layman also had 6 steals to pace the defensive effort for Hardin-Central.
The Lady Dawgs ended the evening with 19 steals and also held a 26-9 rebounding edge.
Frankie Chilcutt grabbed a team-high 8 rebounds for Hardin-Central to go along with 9 points. Allison Oyler hit for 13 points with 5 rebounds, 3 steals and a pair of assists.
Also scoring for the Lady Dawgs were Angelica Bradley with 2 points and Morgan Griggs with a free throw. Bradley also had 5 steals.
After opening up with an 11-point lead, Hardin-Central outscored Stet 14-8 in the second quarter for a 28-11 halftime cushion and then took a 40-17 advantage into the final 8 minutes.
Caitlin Still had 6 points for Stet, with Jody Burk and Haley Coats adding 4 each.
Hardin-Central converted 11 of 18 free throws, while the Lady Cards hit 3 of their 5 attempts from the stripe.
