The Spartan cross country team picked up two medalists in a seventh-place finish at the Excelsior Springs Invitational held at the Excelsior Springs Country Club.
Richmond had 269 points in the 10-team field, with St. Joseph Central winning the team competition, followed by Smithville and Liberty.
St. Joseph Benton placed fourth with Marshall taking fifth just ahead of Lawson. Excelsior Springs was eighth, followed by Chillicothe and Hamilton.
Cody Gorham had the top finish for the Spartans in the 5K race. His time of 17 minutes, 23 seconds earned him a fourth-place medal, with teammate Stephen Smith taking ninth with a time of 17:59.
Luke Bailey finished 32nd with a time of 19:28, while Henry Smith was 43rd in 19:45.
Also for Richmond, Damon Goodall was 55th with 20:29; Dylan White was 61st with 21:01 and Zach Sanders was 65th with 21:36.
Deanna Barger had the top finish for the three Lady Spartan runners. Her time of 23:07 put her at No. 32, followed by Savanna Nobile with 23:52 who finished 45th and LaToya Johnson who placed 55th in 24:59.
T.J. Ramsey finished 33rd in the junior varsity race with a time of 21:24, followed by Cody Horton with a time of 22:37 (52nd); Daniel Bridges, 22:43 (54th); Tyler Minnick, 23:31 (60th); Ben Moses, 23:43 (61st); and Nathan Sickle, 26:19 (69th).
The Lady Spartan JV had two runners in the race with Natalie George finishing in 27:02 for 36th, and Rian Souders timed in 28:13 to take 43rd.
Justin Persell was the lone Richmond participant in the 2-mile freshman race. Persell placed second with a time of 11:42.
