Richmond fell just 3 strokes from picking up its fourth golf victory of the season Tuesday. The Lady Spartans shot 234, but visiting Excelsior Springs carded a 231 to take the dual played at the Shirkey Golf Course.
Leslie Russell earned medalist honors. The Richmond junior shot 53 on the par-38 course, with Kadee McMillan finishing as the runner-up with a 54.
“I was very pleased with how Kadee played today,” Richmond Coach Murray Dennis said. “She’s been pretty close to posting numbers like this all year, but will have a bad hole or two and her scores will be a little higher. I was happy that she was able to shoot a more consistent and capable round like she can. I was also pleased that Leslie was able to take medalist honors for the second straight match, even though her score wasn’t as good as she would have liked. She too, is on the verge of shooting some good scores if we can get a couple of kinks worked out.”
Dennis added the team scores are coming together, but still needs some work overall.
Jordan Thoreson shot 58 for Richmond, with Zoe Harper following with 69.
Alivia Seely and Alli Gordy had the low round for the Lady Tigers as each shot a 56.
