Richmond pushed 6 runs across in the fourth inning on Monday afternoon to put their home game with Cameron out of reach as the Lady Spartans rolled to a 12-3 victory.
The Lady Spartans collected 9 hits and drew 7 walks in the game as they pushed their record to 5-12.
Adrian Tackett kept the Cameron bats in check as she allowed just 4 hits and 3 walks in her complete-game effort.
The Lady Spartan junior faced 30 batters and struck out 3 and surrendered 2 earned runs.
Kayla Hewitt paced the Richmond attack with 2 hits, a walk and a pair of runs driven in. She also was 4 for 4 in stolen bases with 2 runs scored. Anderson then worked her way around to third on two passed balls and scored on an error. Hewitt’s run-scoring single in the second gave the Lady Spartans a 3-0 lead.
Cameron fought back to tie the game in the top of the third inning, but the Lady Spartans pushed a run across in the home half of the frame to take the lead for good. Richmond then put together a 6-run rally in the fourth on singles by Hewitt, Stephanie Williams, Anderson and Alex Phillips.
Stephanie Williams reached on a one-out triple in the fifth inning and scored on Anderson’s sacrifice to push the home team’s lead to 11-3. Anderson ended the afternoon with 3 runs driven in.
Haley Padgett drew her third walk of the game in the sixth inning on the way to scoring her second, and Richmond’s final run of the game.
Morgan Kennedy had 2 of Cameron’s 4 hits for the day.
