The Orrick Lady Bearcats picked a great time to record their first volleyball victory of the season.
Orrick won the final two games of their match Thursday night to defeat long-time volleyball power Santa Fe for the first time in years. After the visitors captured the opening game 25-18, the Lady Bearcats responded by winning the final two 25-20 and 25-16.
“The team moved so well tonight,” Orrick Coach Susan Rodenberg said. “They really came together and played like a team.”
Rodenberg said Shelby Harth had a break-out night with 7 service points to go along with 20 attacks, 10 kills and 4 digs.
Amanda Rodenberg led the way in points with 18, including 5 aces. She also had 23 attacks, 10 kills, with 4 blocks and 8 digs. Brooke Endsley and Amy Isenhour served 12 points apiece, with Isenhour hitting 5 aces. Endsley also had 8 kills in 17 attacks with 3 blocks, while Isenhour led in assists with 29.
The Orrick junior varsity lost in straight sets, 8-25 and 20-25.
Miranda Williams had 8 service points with 4 aces, 3 kills and 3 digs.
