After getting their record back to even, the Richmond Lady Spartan volleyball team dropped a tough two-match set Monday to visiting Cameron 19-25 and 11-25. The Lady Spartans are now 2-3 for the young season, and coach Bailey Pierson said her team just couldn’t get things heading in the right direction.
“We struggled to maintain consistency with our serving, which made it difficult to get anything going,” she said. “The girls are learning everyday the different corrections and adjustments that we need to make in order to win games.”
Kassie Smith and Mikayla Vanderpool had 2 kills each for Richmond, with Brittany Childers, Ali Svaglic, Vanessa Palier and Devvon Daily adding one each. Stephanie May had a team-high 15 assists, with Palier leading the defense with 7 digs, while Smith had the lone Lady Spartan block of the evening. The Richmond junior varsity also lost in two games 25-27 and 12-25.
The Lady Spartans will be hosting the annual Richmond Tournament that gets started Saturday at 9 a.m.
