Notre Dame deSion had little trouble holding on to its Richmond Invitational golf title Wednesday at the Shirkey Golf Course. Notre Dame ended the 18-hole event with 337, which was 8 shots better than the runner-up St. Teresa’s.
Savannah placed third with 348, while Lee’s Summit North and Pembroke Hill tied for fourth with 358. Liberty (364), Chillicothe (393), Kearney and Trenton (both with 396) round out the top 10 in the 18-team field. The host Lady Spartans placed 16th with 466.
Savannah senior Kate Gallagher, who finished second last year, was the tournament medalist with a 76 on the par-70 course. Gallagher, who won the Class 1 state title two years ago and was a runner-up last year, was 2 shots ahead of defending Richmond champion Christopher McCall of Lee’s Summit North.
Morgan Lamberson of Marshall and St. Teresa’s Casey O’Flaherty tied for third with 80. Christina Behnken of deSion and Alex Steinkamp of Savannah placed fifth with 82, followed by Francie Boadon of deSion, Nina Salazaer of St. Teresa’s and Hadley Jennings of Trenton in a three-way tie for seventh with 84. Alexandra Keane of deSion was 10th with 85.
Leslie Russell had the low Richmond round for the afternoon with 99, followed by Kadee McMillan with 121, Jordan Thoreson and Lydia Green both with 123, and Zoe Harper with 128.
