Richmond tennis coach Zach Danner said his Lady Spartans played well against one of the top teams in the area Thursday afternoon at Grain Valley. The Lady Eagles dropped the visitors back to .500 at 3-3 with a 9-0 victory.
Danner said the match will get his team ready for a week of MRVC East matches.
“We have to prepare for a tough conference week against Odessa, Knob Noster and Lexington,” he said. “The girls put out a good effort against a very strong team. I was pleased with the way the girls moved on the court, and placed their shots. We just have to work on consistency.”
Richmond’s No. 1 singles player, Brittany Munson had a tough draw as she faced state qualifier Katelyn Barr. Munson played well in a 5-8 loss.
“She showed that she can play with anyone in the conference,” Danner said of Munson’s effort.
