Orrick Coach Susan Rodenberg said it took a while for her young Lady Bearcats to settle down as they began the new volleyball season hosting Lone Jack Monday night.
Orrick dropped the opening game 17-25, but evened the match with a 26-24 win in the second.
However, Lone Jack captured the match with a 25-17 victory in the deciding game.
Rodenberg said her team really started to jell by the second game after shaking off some nerves in the first game.
Leslie LaFavor led the way with 15 service points, with Amanda Rodenberg adding 12, and Shelby Harth, 11. Rodenberg also added 10 kills, a pair of blocks and 5 digs to her nightly total.
LaFavor had 4 aces and 4 digs, while Amy Isenhour dished out a team-high 12 assists.
The Orrick junior varsity battled through three games before earning its first victory.
Orrick won 25-23, 21-25 and 25-21. Makayla Easley led with 20 service points, including 8 aces. She also led with 5 digs and 5 assists each.
