The fall sports teams will be hitting the fields and courts next week.
The Richmond tennis team will be the first to get the season started. The Lady Spartans will be at Odessa Monday afternoon, before hosting two home matches at Maurice Roberts Park. After their road match, the Lady Spartans will take on Cameron on Wednesday and Excelsior Springs on Thursday.
The Richmond Lady Spartan softball team will open their new season with a home game Tuesday as they host Ray County foe Lawson. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. After their home opener, the Lady Spartans will travel to Cameron on Saturday for the Cameron Tournament.
The Richmond golf team will hit the course for the first time on Tuesday as the Lady Spartans host Kearney at the Shirkey Golf Course. It will be the first of three matches at Shirkey during the week for the Richmond girls as they will host Warrensburg and Odessa on Wednesday before playing in the Orrick Tournament on Friday.
The Orrick golfers will also be at Shirkey to begin their season on Tuesday. The Lady Bearcats will host a triangular with Plattsburg and Hamilton with a 4 p.m. tee time.
The Hardin-Central softball season gets underway Monday as the Lady Bulldogs host Lone Jack before heading to Norborne for a CLAA meeting at Norborne the next day, and hosting Southwest on Thursday.
The Richmond and Orrick volleyball teams still have awhile before they hit the court. Both teams will open their seasons on Aug. 31. The Lady Spartans will host Wellington-Napoleon, while Orrick will be at home to face Lone Jack.
The first cross country meet for Richmond will be Sept. 10 as the Spartans and Lady Spartans go to Oak Grove.
