A man died early Monday morning in a head-on collision, around 5 a.m., approximately two miles east of Richmond on Highway 10.
Ray County Coroner Jim Garrison said the man was driving westbound on Highway 10 and was possibly passing another vehicle when he struck an eastbound vehicle nearly head on.
The man was killed instantly. The eastbound driver, a woman, was taken by air ambulance to Independence Centerpoint Hospital with what Garrison described as “very serious injuries.”
Richmond Fire Department, Ray County Ambulance and Ray County Sheriff’s Dept. were on the scene to assist Missouri Highway Patrol. Both vehicles were removed by Carmichael Service, Inc.
The Missouri Highway Patrol was not available for more information before presstime.
