David and Laura Penny of Richmond, are proud to announce the marriage of their daughter, Megan Noel Penny of Oxford, Ga., to Luke Robert Brown, son of Rob and Linda Brown of Conyers, Ga. on Saturday, April 14, 2009.
The couple was married in a double-ring ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Richmond with Rev. Mark Paul of Conyers, Ga., officiating.
The oak pews were adorned with large white bows. The altar area was decorated with three large flower arrangements that included 16 Easter lilies and two large green ferns. All in white, the arrangements were made of lilies and babies breath.
Emily Jeffcoat, friend of the bride and groom sang, “Thoughts of You,” during the lighting of the unity candle. She sang “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee/Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring” during the seating of mothers/grandmothers; “Bridal Chorus” during the bride’s procession; and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” for the recessional.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, David Penny. Her gown was a strapless, full ball gown with swept up gathers in wedding white. The bodice was detailed in beading, which was also seen adorning the bride’s veil. Flowers were a large, rounded bouquet of all white roses with natural green stems.
Maids of Honor were Mallory and Audrey Penny, sisters of the bride. Their gowns were black, strapless full-length gowns, and they carried bouquets of all red roses with natural green stalks.
Bridesmaids were Kaci Brown and Keri Brown, sisters of the groom. Their dresses were the same as the maids of honor.
The bride carried an antique handkerchief, which has been carried in her family for five generations. It was a handmade wedding gift for Megan’s great-great grandmother.
