A combination of the old west, a Mexican fiesta and a hometown festival are in store for area residents at the Richmond KFC/Taco Bell’s grand opening this Saturday. Festivities begin at 9 a.m. with a Richmond Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony.
Jesse James and his gang come back to Richmond in a reenactment of one of their famous bank robberies for a taste of the old west at 9:30 a.m.
The traditional music of old Mexico will be performed by a mariachi band from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to serenade both Taco Bell and KFC eaters. The fiesta includes free balloons and candy for the kids.
Even the Colonel is scheduled for an appearance and will be available for photos with people throughout the day, as well as Mr. Chicken.
Part of the proceeds from food sales for Saturday will go towards Richmond Salvation Army food pantry. All food purchases will receive a free Pepsi fountain drink in a reusable tumbler.
Special hours for Saturday are 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the restaurant and 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. for drive-through service.
Response to the soft opening of the store on June 15 has been tremendous, according to owners Rajeev and Dimple Jain.
“People have been wonderful, very patient and understanding,†Rajeev said. “Our staff is getting better and faster to serve the crowds.â€
The Jains have hired over 55 people from the Richmond area to work in the KFC/Taco Bell restaurant.
