The Richmond Housing Authority and Darneal Court invites their residents and friends to attend a block party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at Darneal Court.
Through the generosity of Richmond Housing Authority, Richmond First Baptist Church and many volunteers, these families can look forward to a variety of activities.
Children will find the bounce house a fun place to work off some energy, and can get their faces painted too. Other action includes volleyball and basketball. No block party would be complete without music and snacks to enjoy.
Coordinators for the event are Pastor Brad Chandler, Youth Pastor John Myers, Mike Gilliam and Rob Kinnard. Besides the fun it offers to the community, it also provides many individuals with a valuable opportunity for missionary training.
Kinnard said, “This offers our mission team a training before they take off to Texas and Mexico in August.”
Approximately 30 individuals from Richmond will take time from their responsibilities here to take their assistance, helping hands, testimonies and caring hearts to help others.
This marks the first year for Richmond First Baptist to send out a large team of volunteers to do service projects, hold a tent revival and sports evangelism activities and Vacation Bible School for families in Zapata, Texas.
The group will also take supplies and volunteer their work at an orphanage in Mexico, and deliver 14,000 Spanish New Testament bibles that were made at the Bible Conference in Richmond this spring.
