"Thanks for making me a better person"
Megan Davidson didn’t tell anyone in her family about her letter.
“I saw last year’s [contest] and thought it would be fun and cool to point out to Dad in the paper for Father’s Day,” she said.
However, Megan’s secret is already out of the bag. Her letter describing her gregarious and fun-loving father, Jimmy Davidson of Hardin, was the winner of The Daily News Father of the Year.
The announcement left Jimmy a little speechless.
“For once, I could say he was stunned,” said Jimmy’s mother Susie.
“It was a shocker,” he said. After reading her letter, he added, “she’s good at writing, too.”
Megan chronicled some of her father’s funny antics, such as crooning to Taylor Swift songs, along with her dad teaching her and sister Mallary traditions of the family. The girls say they love deer and turkey hunting with their dad and spending time with him.
Along with the congratulatory smiles and hugs from his daughters, Jimmy will receive a John Deere weed eater from Richmond Farm and Lawn as a prize. Congratulations.
The letter from Megan Davidson along with other Father of the Year letters can be found on Page 12.
