It took all of one match for the Orrick Bearcats to re-write their season-low total. After setting the mark on Wednesday, the Bearcats quickly broke out the erasers and posted a 171 Thursday in a dual match at Drumms Farm in Independence.
Orrick easily defeated Kansas City Lutheran’s total of 231 to improve to 16-3 for the season. A third team, Seaburg Academy, fielded only three golfers.
“As a team, we are really playing well,” Orrick Coach Sam Griffin said. “It seems like we may be playing our best golf when we need to be. This is really exciting with districts coming up May 4 at Shirkey.”
Seaburg Academy’s Reed Grabill was the medalist with a one-over par 37.
The Bearcats had the next three low scores for the day. Joe Kaufman had the low Orrick total with 38, while Preston Karnes shot a 42, and Kalija Rogers was just one shot back. Matt Waters carded a 51, and Eric Rodenberg followed with 51.
