Three Orrick golfers turned in scores in the 40s in a home quad match at Shirkey Golf Course Tuesday afternoon.
However, it wasn’t enough to prevent their second loss of the season as the Bearcats defeated three of the four schools. Orrick shot 194, but Marceline had all five of their Tigers turn in rounds in the 40s as they finished with 181.
Kansas City Barstow had the third lowest total with 281, while Crest Ridge ended the day with 242.
The Bearcats are now 14-2 for the season with three tournaments scheduled over the next three days. The first of those will be at today’s Marceline Invitational.
Chase Thorp of Barstow was the medalist Tuesday with a 4-over par 36, with his teammate Sean Dusselier a shot back.
Joe Kaufman had the low Orrick round with 44, followed by Preston Karnes with 46, and Kalija Rogers with 48. Eric Rodenberg carded 56 for the Bearcats while Matt Waters shot 62.
“Marceline is a very good squad,” Orrick Coach Sam Griffin said. “Joe and Preston were a little inconsistent, but Kalija shot in the 40s for his first time.”
Marceline’s low man for the afternoon was Tyler Hamilton with 44, with Tim Jordan carding 45, while the remaining three Tigers shot 46. Kyle Shull had the low round for Crest Ridge with 49.
Marceline also had the low junior varsity team total with 185, while Orrick shot 261.
Colt Terry was the JV medalist with a 43, with his Marceline teammate, Jake Ewigman shooting 48.
Zach Nichols shot the low Bearcat JV round with 63, followed by Marcus McClellan with 64, Derrick Harris with 66, Ian Pigg with 68 and Tyler Kent with 70.
