The Lady Spartan track team captured three second-place finishes Thursday as they opened the season at Trenton. Richmond also had a third-place finish, and picked up points in 10 other events in the six-team field.
Chelsea Hook was the runner-up in the shot put as she finished behind Rachel Thoeni of Carrollton, who had a distance of 30 feet, 11 inches. Savanna Nobile placed second in the pole vault, and the thrower’s relay team also finished second.
In addition to her second-place showing in the pole vault, Nobile also finished third in the 800-meter run, and sixth in the 1,600 meters.
Kaylie Root placed in two events for Richmond. She was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, and 300-meter hurdles.
Deanna Barger also picked up points in two events. She was fourth in the 3,200 meters, and fourth in the 1,600 meters.
Alex Phillips placed fourth in the discus, and Hannah Todd finished sixth in the triple jump for the Lady Spartans.
Phillips and Hook were on the second-place throwers’ relay for Richmond.
Richmond also grabbed fourth place in the 1,600-meter relay, and fifth in the 800-relay team with Todd, Lexi Smith, Alysa Bradley and Morgan McCaughey; and 400-meter team of Evyn Pearson, Smith, Mikala Vanderpool and Todd.
