Do you rock at Rock Band? Are you THE Guitar Hero? Are you a soloist or a part of a ‘band?’ Then it’s time to gather your most talented friends and form your own ‘band,’ or go on the ‘road’ on your own straight to Richmond Middle School this Friday.
The Richmond Band Boosters are sponsoring a unique event at Richmond Middle School. Many students brag about their prowess at Guitar Hero and Rock Band, so the idea came about to let them put their talents to good use in a good environment by holding a tournament.
There’s probably no middle school or high school student in the area that hasn’t heard of and played Guitar Hero or Rock Band, and now you can showcase your expertise and win some prizes. And don’t forget, the ‘groupies’ are always a welcome part of any performance and can add to the excitement.
Middle school competition will be from 6-8:30 p.m. High school students will compete from 9 p.m. to midnight. Those wishing to compete in the Rock Band portion of the tournament must form their ‘bands’ prior to registration.
Admission will be $5 at the door. Rock Band and Guitar Hero competitors will pay an additional $5 for the tournament.
Besides the tournament, students may climb the infamous Rock Wall at RMS, which seems to blend well with the ‘rock’ band atmosphere of the evening. If time permits, there will also be free play on both games following the tournament. Concessions and a souvenir shop will be available to round out the event.
Students have just a few days to polish their performance skills and get their bands ‘in sync.’ Perhaps some performers may even dress up to add pizazz to their crowd appeal and overall effect – but it’ll be the scores that are tallied, as those colorful spots and lines speed down the screen, that matter.
