The Orrick Bearcat golfers battled the wind and three other schools in a season-opening quad match Monday at the Shirkey Golf Course. Orrick shot 199 for the 9-hole match, with Mid Buchanan turning in the low team total of the day with 173. Plattsburg shot 230, which was 15 shots ahead of Lathrop.
Mid Buchanan had the two low individual totals for the afternoon with Dillon Delaney carding a 5-over par 41 to earn medalist honors, while Andrew Sass was just one shot back.
Joe Kaufman and Preston Karnes each shot 44 for the low Bearcat rounds, with Kalija Rogers shooting 53, followed by Matt Waters with 58, and Eric Rodenberg with 59. Joey Pelham had the low Plattsburg round with 49, and Tony Smith’s 59 was the low score for the Mules.
Mid Buchanan also had the low junior varsity team total with 216. Orrick followed with 247, while Lathrop and Plattsburg each shot 255.
Alex Jackson shot 50 for Mid Buchanan to take JV medalist honors, with Orrick’s Marcus McClellan one shot back. Zach Nichols ended the afternoon with 61 for the Bearcats, followed by Derrick Harris with 66, Ian Pigg with 69, and Tyler Kent with 70.
