Some intersections around the square are causing problems for drivers and Police Chief Terri McWilliams thinks she may have some answers.
McWilliams suggested to Public Safety Committee members to change the intersections along North Main Street at College and Thornton streets to four-way stop signs.
County Treasurer JoAnn Burnine and her husband Cleatus also expressed concern to the committee about the intersection.
“Somebody is going to get hurt way, way bad someday,” Burnine said.
McWilliams also suggested the stoplight at East Main Street and Institute be removed. She said she wants to change it to a four-way stop at first, and then change it to a two-way stop.
“We don’t have the businesses on the corner like we used to,” McWilliams said.
