Trailing by 8 at the half, the Orrick Lady Bearcats picked up their first come-from-behind victory of the season Tuesday night with a 57-44 win at Crest Ridge.
“This was a good night for us,” Orrick Coach Mitch Comstock said. “This was the first time in my tenure here we have beaten Crest Ridge. We had a great night from our posts. They accounted for 36 of our 57 points and Crest Ridge didn’t have an answer. I was also proud of how we came out in the third quarter. We have struggled in previous games at coming out with intensity.”
Orrick trailed 13-9 after one quarter and 30-22 at the half. The Lady Bearcats, now 8-5 overall and 1-1 in the I-70 Conference, began to chip away in the third period with a 14-9 scoring advantage.
Orrick then put the game away in the fourth frame as they outscored the home team 21-5.
Elizabeth Clark paced the Lady Bearcat scoring with 18 points, with Amanda Rodenberg adding 15. Clark scored 14 of her points after halftime.
Rodenberg led the way on the boards with 11 rebounds, while Clark pulled down 8. Amy Isenhour added 7 points to the Orrick attack, followed by Shelby Harth with 5, Kristee Harris with 4, Leslie LaFavor and Gabriela Pigg with 3 each, and Megan Swartz with 2.
