Two Richmond junior varsity wrestlers earned runner-up medals at Saturday’s Blue Springs JV Tournament.
Colby Bowers at 215 pounds, and Alex Luman at 285 both recorded a pair of falls on their way to a second-place finish.
Bowers and Luman were two of the nine Richmond wrestlers competing and getting some valuable mat experience according to coach Ken Simmons.
“The team got to see a lot of bigger schools and get in some mat time,” he said. “Gaining experience is important for them and hopefully they will continue to improve as the season progresses.”
Dean Thompson split his four matches for the afternoon at 285. He recorded two falls, and lost two close decisions.
Lonnie Briant won one of his three matches in the 215-pound bracket for the Spartans.
Also wrestling for Richmond were Savanna Nobile at 103, Cody Ball at 119, Cody Bryant at 152, Zach Smith at 171 and Aaron Crawley at 215.
