The Orrick volleyball season came to an end Tuesday evening as they dropped a two-set match to Kansas City Lutheran in the Class 1, District 15 finals at the Wentworth Military Academy fieldhouse in Lexington.
Orrick opened the tournament with a 25-2, 25-8 sweep over Kansas City Southeast. After stopping St. Joseph Christian 31-29 and 25-14 in the first round, the Lady Bearcats fell to the Knights 17-25 and 18-25 on Tuesday.
“We played two really good games,” Orrick Coach Susan Rodenberg said. “I was disappointed that we lost, but not with the way the girls played. They gave it everything they had and I was proud of them.”
Orrick had two players named to the first-team all-district squad. Micaela Martin had 45 service points, with 20 aces, in her three games. She also added 19 digs and a dozen kills in 37 attacks. Also making first-team was Amanda Rodenberg who collected 33 service points and 15 aces with 22 kills and 17 digs.
Three other Lady Cats, Elizabeth Clark, Amy Isenhour and Brooke Endsley were selected to the second-team.
