The top two finishers in the girls’ division of The Richmond Invitational cross country meet held Thursday at Southview Park looked the same as last year’s meet.
Kearney repeated its Richmond team title as Brooke Buerky and Sami Berry finished one-two for the Lady Bulldogs, while Notre Dame deSion once again finished as the runner-up.
Kearney had five runners finish in the top 10 as the Lady Bulldogs ended the day with 22 points, with deSion totaling 58 points to take second for the second year in a row in the 10-team field.
Buerky, a senior, covered the 5K distance with a time of 20 minutes, 12 seconds, with her sophomore teammate finishing in 20:26. Payton Hartman of Smithville was third with 20:29, while Katie Wells of Marshall in 20:38 and Jasmine Edward of Kearney in 20:39 rounded out the top 5.
Marshall won the boys division with 63 points – 7 better than second-place Smithville. Smithville junior Ben Barrows turned in the winning time of 17:35, while Marshall’s Matt Bledsoe had the top finish for the Owls with a fifth-place time of 17:54.
