What do pies and a high school choir have in common? Usually nothing, but in this case pies are auctioned off to raise money to help send the choir to the Heritage Music Festival, April 23-26.
The seventh annual musical fundraising event will be held at the Farris Theatre, 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 13.
“We will be auctioning off 15 specialty pies and five specialty cheesecakes,” said Maria Morrison, RHS Choir Boosters president.
The high school and middle school choirs will perform. But that isn’t the only entertainment.
Those that have attended the pie auctions in the past agree that the bidding is the ‘appetizer’ before the ‘dessert.’ A few ‘special’ pies will wind up as the facial ‘makeup’ of volunteers that have offered to take a pie in the face. These pies are simple and are filled with Cool Whip.
Last year, the auction raised $2,400 for the choir program. Pies will be from Tippins Signature pies and cheesecakes.
