Jewell Clevenger Mills, 83, of Wyoming, Mich., formerly of Orrick, passed away Aug. 29, 2008 at Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods, Byron Center, Mich.
Mr. Mills was born July 19, 1925 in San Bernardino, Calif., the son of Jewell M. and May (Clevenger) Mills. He married Marilyn Virginia Squires Aug. 6, 1953 in Baldwin, Kan.; she survives of the home.
Mr. Mills was a senior high school teacher in special education at Utica Community Schools in Utica, Mich., for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to the Orrick area.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: three sons, Samuel W. Mills of Lansing, Mich., Edward J. Mills of Kansas City, Mo., and Martin K. Mills of Caledonia, Mich.; and one grandson, Jacob M. Mills of Caledonia, Mich.
Cremation. The burial in Union Cemetery in Orrick will be private.
Friends and acquaintances of Jewell and Virginia are invited to attend an afternoon of remembrance, from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 28, at the home of Andy and Desi Gray, 30993 W. 102 Street in Excelsior Springs.
