The Lady Spartan golfers turned in a 215 Wednesday afternoon in a triangular match with Excelsior Springs and Lawson at the Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lawson.
Richmond finished third with 215, but coach Murray Dennis called it the best team outing of the season as each golfer came in under 60.
“I knew if the girls continued to work at their games, focus on their next shots and forget about the one they just hit, their scores would start to come down,” he said.
Excelsior Springs had the low team score for the day with 192, while the host Lady Cardinals shot 201.
Lauren VanDyne of Excelsior Springs was the medalist for the day with a 6-over par 40. Richmond’s Mollie Blair tied the Lady Tigers’ Taylor Alberti for runner-up honors with 46.
“I was very happy to see Mollie shoot a score more like she is capable of doing each time out,” Dennis said. “There were still a couple of shots here and there that she told me she could have taken off, but I was still very pleased to see her get closer to what she is very capable of.”
Dennis was also pleased with the scores of the other three Lady Spartan golfers.
Leslie Russell shot her season-low round of 52, while Jordan Thoreson carded a 58 and Kadee McMillan shot 59.
Shelby Malott and Donna Gallman had the low round for Lawson as each shot 48.
Richmond will host Excelsior Springs on Tuesday before closing out the regular season Wednesday with a triangular at home with Pembroke Hill and St. Teresa’s.
