Bert Henry Carner, 83, of Dover, formerly Odessa, went to be with the Lord Monday, Aug. 18, 2008.
Bert was born June 17, 1925, in Jonesboro, Ark., the son of Curtis and Zella (Martin) Carner. He was a World War II veteran awarded the Purple Heart, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Moose Lodge, and Teamsters Local 41.
His parents, one brother, Cecil Carner, his wife, Sarah “Sally” Lucille (Davis) Carner, and his son David Cecil Carner, preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry Carner and his wife, Pat, of Independence, Corky Carner and his wife, Kim, of Edgerton, Kan.; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna Rehmsmeyer and her husband, John, of Dover; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans Memorial Program, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation. Burial will be Friday, Aug. 22, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Ill.
