Bernice M. Harris, 60, of Excelsior Springs, Mo. passed away peacefully in the comfort of friends and family on Monday, July 21, 2008 at the Liberty Hospital.
Bernice was born March 10, 1948, the daughter of Japtha H. and Helen A. Garner.
She was a lifelong resident of Excelsior Springs, attended Excelsior Springs High School, and graduated from the Martinez School of Cosmetology. Bernice continued her cosmetology training abroad where she studied in London. Following her vast training, Bernice opened and co-owned BK Hair Company in 1981. Bernice truly touched the lives of generations through her craft. Bernice was a devoted Christian and attended the Main Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jason Harris and his wife, Brenna, of Smithville.; three grandchildren, Kaden, Korbin and Kolby; three sisters, Dorothy Reece of Excelsior Springs, Betty Jean Ward of Kansas City, Mo., and Frances Garner of Liberty; and many adoring nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Kansas City Hope Lodge.
A memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at the Excelsior Springs Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs.
Arrangements are under the direction of Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
