Mary Frances Slaughter, 86, of Greenwich, Conn., died Tuesday, June 17, 2007, at the Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Conn.
Mary Frances was born May 18, 1922 in Kingston, the daughter of Tinsley and Gayle Brown. She married Eldon Eugene Slaughter of Richmond, in March of 1945; he died July 18, 2008.
Mary Frances was a 1940 graduate of Richmond High School. She attended Park University in Parkville. She lived in Kansas City for 16 years, where Eldon worked for TransWorld Airlines. They moved their family to Greenwich, Conn. in 1964 when Eldon was promoted to Director of Facilities Planning for TWA in New York City.
Mary Frances was a member of The PEO Sisterhood for over 60 years, The First Presbyterian Church in Greenwich, and the Senior Center. Mary Frances was a homemaker for most of her married life, though she was employed at Fawcett and CBS Publishing as an accounting clerk for 10 years, retiring in 1984.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marcia Slaughter Woodcock of Smyrna, Tenn.; one son, James Slaughter of Kent, Conn.; four grandchildren, Dewitt Taylor Kennard, IV and Bradley Alexander Kennard of Nashville, Tenn., Evan Jeffrey and Alison Lee Slaughter of Kent, Conn.; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, her grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Tinsley Brown of Hamilton, Mo.; and Dr. and Mrs. James G. Gartside of Kingston, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 1, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Memorial services will immediately follow the visitation at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Sunny Slope Cemetery in Richmond.
