Opal Irene Peterman, 89, died July 19, 2008 in Excelsior Springs.
Opal was born May 26, 1919 in Sylvia, Kan., the daughter of John and Lula (White) Ritter.
She married Lewis Eugene Peterman Dec. 3, 1938; he preceded her in death April 17, 1982.
Survivors include: one daughter, MaryLou Schwarz of Excelsior Springs; one granddaughter, Angela Lynne Schwarz of Kennesaw, Ga.; one grandson, Jeffrey Michael Schwarz of Leawood, Kan.; one sister, Vada Sharp of Lawson; one brother, Willis Ritter of Excelsior Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, three sisters, Stella Eaton, Hazel Peterman and Estle Short, and two brothers, Raymond and Reuel Ritter, preceded her in death.
Contributions may be made to the Lawson United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday evening July 22, at Polley Funeral Home in Lawson. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday July 23, at the Lawson United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Lawson Cemetery.
