Jeff H. Richards, 83, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Friday, July 18, 2008 at Woodbine Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre in Gladstone.
Jeff was born Feb. 17, 1925 in Bushong, Kan., the son of Allen Lincoln and Caroline J. (Watts) Richards. He married June Happy May 20, 1950 in Kansas City; who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife June, survivors include: one brother-in-law, James M. Happy, Sr.; one sister-in-law, Judith L. Norris; two nephews, James M. Happy, Jr., and B. Patterson Happy; and one niece, Emelie G. Gunter.
His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Richards was raised in Nevada, Mo., and Fort Scott, Kan. He was a veteran of World War II, United States Army, 82nd Airborne, enlisting in 1943. He was awarded the Purple Heart, four Bronze Stars, Orange Lanyard Royal Netherlands Army and Fourragere Belgium Army before being honorably discharged in 1946.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Crossroads Hospice or to the First Baptist Church of North Kansas City.
No visitation is scheduled. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, at Polley Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Hardin Cemetery.
