Robert J. “Bob” Slater, 82, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Friday, July 11, 2008, at the Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Bob was born on March 26, 1926 in Bermingham, the son of George and Sarah (Gulley) Slater. He married Ruby (Baxter) Slater in 1948; she preceded him in death Oct. 1, 2004.
Survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Karen Pennington and her husband, Richard, of Lawson, and Kathy Jean Clevenger of Excelsior Springs; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. Slater and his wife, Mary Ann, of Lawson; his fiance’ Irma Turner of Lathrop; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy Slater and his wife Mary Ann, of Maryland.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents and wife, three sisters, Erma, Eula, and Mary, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 15, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Polley Cemetery in Excelsior Springs.
