Virginia Sue West, 92, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at the Excelsior Springs Convalescence Center.
Virginia was born April 7, 1916 in Nevada, Mo., the daughter of Edna Pearl (Hess) and William Kelly Davis. Virginia married Buford M. West July 19, 1940 in Independence. Together they owned and operated Western Auto between 1948 and 1968. Along with being a loving mother and homemaker, she worked as a cashier both at the Royal Grill and the Mill Inn Restaurant. Virginia was also a long-time member of Woods Memorial Christian Church in Excelsior Springs.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Joe West and his wife, Deborah, of Excelsior Springs; granddaughters Amy Lynn Longenecker and her husband, Ryan, of Columbia, and Jenny Jo West of Excelsior Springs; and great-granddaughter, Gabby Bratton of Excelsior Springs.
Virginia’s parents, husband, son Richard Dean West, and brother Bill Davis, preceded her in death.
A graveside memorial service for Virginia will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 15, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs.
Arrangements are under the direction of Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
