Joseph E. Underwood passed away quietly Monday, July 7, 2008.
Joe was born in Odessa April 2, 1923, the son of Joe H. and Bessie B. Underwood. Joe was schooled in Odessa and lived there with his wife, Irene W. Underwood, for many years. The family relocated to Irving in late 1965 and to their current Colleyville, Texas home in 1969. Mr. Underwood operated his own mechanic shop in Odessa for several years before working for several vending machine companies in Missouri and Texas.
Joe enjoyed traveling and camping, and spent many memorable times with his family doing both. He will always be remembered with love by his survivors.
Survivors include his wife, Irene, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet Smith and her husband, Charles, and Debbie Elms and her husband, Joe; one son and daughter-in-law, David Underwood and his wife, Lynne; nine grandchildren, Missy, Angie, Robin, Mindy, Jason, Jody, Christy, Matt and Nate; and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances of Joe be made to the Prayer Garden at First United Methodist Church of Colleyville in Colleyville, Texas.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at the First United Methodist Church of Colleyville in Colleyville. Interment was in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville.
Arrangements were under the direction of Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas.
