Norma Gene Woods, 83, of Richmond, formerly of Orrick and Independence, passed away Monday June 30, 2008, at the Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.
Norma was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Portland, Ind., the daughter of Elmer and Opal Bisel.
Norma was raised in Indiana where she attended public schools. She came to Independence at the age of 18 and worked as a waitress at Waid’s. She was a factory seamstress for many years and also a landlord with rental properties in Independence. She enjoyed working on her hobby farm, fishing, cooking and frogging. She was of the Mormon faith.
Survivors include: one grandson, Quentin Norris of Richmond; and two sisters, Ruth Shockney of Farmland, Ind., and Jeane Cassel of Portland, Ind.
Her parents and her son, Samuel E. Norris, Jr., preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday July 3, at the Cravens Cemetery near Camden. There will be no public visitation.
