Harold H. “Harry” Bowman, 77, of Carrollton, died at 1:50 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at his home in rural Carroll County.
Harry was born Oct. 26, 1930, in the Rockingham Community, the son of Jim David and Emma Hester (Rader) Bowman. He married Vera Henderson of Carrollton, on Jan. 12, 1952; she survives, of the home.
Harry had worked for Southwestern Bell for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He lived most of his life in the Carrollton area and was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the Wakenda Masonic Lodge #52 A.F. & A.M. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his wife, Vera, survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Vee Ward and her husband, Bill, of Norborne, and Katie Ann Seek and her husband, Rick, of Norborne; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmie Bowman and his wife, Eleanor, of Stet; two sisters, Louise Robinson of Richmond, and Francis White of San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren, Kelly Leppert and her husband, Shawn, Angie Braesch and her husband, Joe, Emily Bowman, Caleb Seek and Nikki Seek; and three great-grandchildren, Ruger Leppert, Roman Leppert and Kyla Braesch.
In addition to his parents, one daughter, Linda Kay Bowman; one son, Harold Alan Bowman; one brother, Robert D. “Bob” Bowman; and two sisters, Anne Reade and Virginia Robinson, preceded him in death.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Carrollton Library or the Lifestyle Fitness Center or Senior Center.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m., Monday, June 30, at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at Wakenda Cemetery, located north of Hardin, where the American Legion Post #237 and Richmond VFW Post #4398 will conduct military graveside services.
