Pauline (Thornton) McCreery, 100, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008.
Pauline was born June 10, 1907 in Huntsdale, the daughter of Allen Vawter and Hattie Elizabeth (Smith) Thornton. She married Ezra Murl McCreery Dec. 1, 1923 in Jefferson City, he preceded her in death in 1974.
Mrs. McCreery was reared in Huntsdale, graduating from Huntsdale High School. At the time of her death she was the only living member of the Class of 1923.
Survivors include: one daughter, Elsa Merline Sharp of Liberty; one son, Robert L. McCreery of the home; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; several nieces and one nephew.
In addition to her husband and parents, two sons, P. Beuford McCreery, Loyd McCreery, and two brothers, Benny Thornton and Conrad Thornton, preceded her in death.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty.
