Luella G. Grider, 93, of Norborne, died Sunday, June 1, 2008, at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Mrs. Grider was born May 4, 1915 in Hodge, the daughter of Spencer Thomas and Mittie Belle (Gibson) Gant. She married Leamon K. Grider of Sugar Tree on March 26, 1939; he preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1994.
Survivors include: four daughters and three sons-in-law, Marilyn Case of Richland, Elaine Wheeler and her husband, Donald, of Hardin, Karen Johnson and her husband, Albert, of Hardin and Linda Weisz and her husband, John, of Hardin; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a special godson and his wife, Larry and Sally O’Brien of Basehor, Kan.
In addition to her parents and husband, one brother, William Gant, two sisters, Susan Burkhart and Eola Nauman, one granddaughter, Kristi McCoy and two great-grandsons, Grayson McNail and Britain Freece, preceded her in death.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hardin First Baptist Church.
There will be no visitation, however, the body will lie in state from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 2, at the Thurman Funeral Home in Norborne. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 3 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairhaven Cemetery in Norborne.
