Juanita May Harmon, 98, of Richmond, died Thursday, May 22, 2008, at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Mrs. Harmon was born March 6, 1910, in Morehead, Kan., the daughter of Walter E. and Maude Ida (Gibson) Holderby. She married Clarence Harmon of Cherryvale, Kan., on Dec. 21, 1928; he preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1993.
She was a member of the Henrietta First Baptist Church, Tireless Toilers Extension Club, RSVP, and a charter member of the Ray County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She had lived in Richmond most of her life.
Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom Harmon and his wife, Martha, of Richmond, Emery “Ted” Harmon and his wife, Jerri, of Hot Springs, Ark., and Kenneth Harmon and his wife, Jane, of Columbia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Cole and her husband, Don, of Richmond, and Eilene Breshears and her husband, Virgil, of Lexington; and one daughter-in-law, Darlene Harmon of Richmond; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, three sons, Jim Harmon, John Harmon and Gilbert Harmon, and one brother, Emery Crowell, preceded her in death.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Henrietta First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, May 31, at the First Baptist Church, Henrietta. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens in Richmond.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
